Membership Categories

Community Member: All designated U.S. Naval Aerospace Experimental Psychologists:
a) Who are currently on active duty in the U.S. Navy or
b) Who have served at least two years of active duty as a designated U.S. Naval Aerospace Experimental Psychologist, and:

i) are still on active duty in another designation,

ii) were separated under honorable conditions, or

iii) are now members of the U.S. Navy Reserve in a selected reserve (SELRES), individual ready reserve (IRR), or inactive status.

Emeritus Member: All Retired or former U.S. Naval Aerospace Experimental Psychologists meeting the qualifications outlined in paragraph 2b above are eligible to be Emeritus Members.

Professional Member: Any individual who is not a designated Naval Aerospace Experimental Psychologists may be considered for membership by the Executive Board of the Society if they:

1. Submit a current résumé or curriculum vita and a personal statement describing their accomplishments, impact on the field of aviation psychology, and contributions to the military they believe justifies their membership in the Society.

2. Obtain a letter of endorsement from a current society member in good standing that details why the individual should be accepted as a member. Examples of contributions that would support membership include:

i) Articles concerning aviation psychology in refereed journals.

ii) Books and/or research reports that have impacted the field of aviation psychology and/or its applications within the military.

iii) Receipt and management of research grants relevant to the field of aviation psychology.

iv) Innovations in practice, theory, and/or research that have had a notable and documented broad impact on aviation psychology.

v) Leadership in exploring, identifying, and addressing key problems and issues in the field.
